Non-Scale Victories

Even though I’ve had an absolutely shitty week, I did experience some non-scale victories this week. I feel the need to celebrate them today, before I get the scale results tomorrow, because I’m afraid if the scale doesn’t respond the way I like it to, I will forget about these NSVs.

First, two people asked me how much weight I’ve lost. Then they went on to say that I look so much thinner.

Someone else told me that I look really good in purple, which is the color I was wearing at the time. Plus, purple is my favorite color.

Then when I got home from work, the same day those two things happened, my husband was also very appreciative of how I looked as well.

Finally, a parent of one of the patients at work referred to me as “the little nurse”. Now, she may have been referring to my short stature, but I’m going to take it as my overall petite size. :)

I love when this happens! Like I said, positive people not only put a smile on our face and a spring in our step, it’s an encouragement to pass the positivity around. A pay it forward type of thing. Until before we know it, it’s second nature to make everyone feel great with a few simple and sincere words. What a wonderful world it could be hmmm? :D

  • Megan :

I choose to take those kinds of comments as compliments no matter how they were meant (as long as it was meant nicely).

When you feel good about yourself, it shows and you look even better. xoxo

Cathy–Amen to that! It changed my whole feeling about myself. It made it easier to make healthy choices, too.

Megan–That’s what someone else told me, too. She said, “Don’t over think the compliment. Just believe it.
