Blah, Blah, Oink

I’ve had this idea floating around in my brain for a post, maybe even a novel, depending on how long it ended up being. It would have been a fictional piece about the feared bird flu pandemic. It would have centered around a couple of different families and how they dealt with the struggles and losses that came to their families because of the pandemic flu. The really freaky thing is that I started thinking about this supposed post/novel before any of this swine flu H1N1 novel flu stuff came out. You can call me Allison Dubois.

This morning, at least our local government told us that they don’t want us to be calling it the swine flu because you can’t get it from eating pork and they don’t want to hurt the pork industry. Then, this evening the WHO (World Health Organization) said that we should still call it swine flu because there may be or will be variations on the H1N1 virus. What the hell? Will they make up their minds? I wanna know what it’s called before it kills me. I think we should just call it Revenge of the Pigs. Serves us right for eating them all these years. They are getting back at us.

Actually, I really think it’s an evil plot on the part of the Mexicans to overthrow our government. Be afraid Canada, they’re coming after you next. After they kill all of us off with their mutant virus. Or maybe Al Quaida planted it in Mexico and then they are going to wait until we are all sick or dead and move in and take over the country. They’re evil like that.

Disclaimer:  For those of you who may be reading my blog for the first time and/or this is the first post of mine that you have ever read, please know that I am having a hard time talking because my tongue is stuck so far in the side of my mouth, also known as my cheek.  It may not be funny to make jokes about something that is killing people, small children even, but if I didn’t, I would go crazy thinking about what may actually happen with this.  I know.  I’ve been working in a place that has been preparing for this sort of situation for a long time.  When I really think about it, it does scare me, so forgive me if, sometimes, a little gallow’s humor helps me cope.
