I am so frustrated right now. Whatever is going on in my life, I always want to share it with you. If I’m depressed, you lift me up or pray for me or whatever. When I am confused, you straighten me out. When I just need some support, there you are, holding me up. Right now, I’m so frustrated and I cannot even tell you about it. It has to do with my oldest. I can’t give you the details because, you know, it may get back to her or make other members of my family angry.
God. I love her immensely. Sometimes, I am so proud that she is doing this all on her own, no assistance financially or anything. It’s difficult, I’m sure, having the income from being a part time bar waitress. Still, somehow she does it. Pays the rent. Usually she gets her car payment in on time. But still, she frustrates me so that I just want to scream sometimes.
I just want her to get her shit together. I want her to be the Mom that I know she can be. I want her to have a clear mind. I want her to be able to make appropriate decisions for her child. I want her to put Isabelle first while making those decisions. I want her to SUCCEED. But if she isn’t going to, I don’t want her to drag Isabelle down with her. I want her to give us the chance to provide for Isabelle and take care of her basic needs if she feels like it is too much for her.
This Limbo that we are in is stressing all of us out. It’s hard on Isabelle, my other children, and Jason and I. I’m sure it’s hard on Ashley, too. It doesn’t have to be. She’s been shown the path to what could make life a whole lot easier for her, but she can’t or won’t take it.
Maybe I’ve said too much. I don’t know.
Awww Hon, I can imagine it must be frustrating at times, however much you love her. It’s just hard having to stand by and see her do things you wish she would do differently…

Shelli… I don’t know the whole situation, obviously, but it sounds like you and I have something in common here. Replace the names in your post with the names of my brother and other members of my family, and you have a situation we’re dealing with here that leaves our hearts torn and minds confused. My older brother has made one bad decision after another during the course of his years, but now they not only affect him, but the twin daughters his wife had last spring.
I want so badly for him to be the kind of father I know he can be, the kind of man I see him be when he’s around my children. But destructive patterns and bad choices always seem to carry him off in the wrong direction.
I’ll keep you, your daughter, and her little one all in my prayers, knowing you’re going through the same frustration as I.

I’m sitting here nodding my head, going yep yep yep, those young adult kids make you crazy. Yep yep. BUT. It’s way different for you. I can watch my kids do baffling, idiotic, sometimes dangerous stunts, but it’s different, because there isn’t a small, innocent, impressionable child involved. Whatever is going on, I hope it gets resolved very soon, so it can stop making you crazy frustrated.
We need to have lunch again soon, too!
I don’t think you can say too much if you write out of pure love. I don’t know exactly what’s going on, so I’m not saying who’s right (not that it would have mattered, anyway), but I just don’t think saying you love your daughter and granddaughter could be saying too much, you know?
I have two sisters in their forties and my parents are still trying to \’fix\’ it for them. It doesn\’t work sugar.
You are caught in a predicament that so many of my clients are in. It\’s so hard to make decisions that are tough love for your baby without thinking of how it will be for the littlest one.
