Oh, That Isabelle!

Is she the cutest sleeping angel ever, or what?

Jason was at the grocery store with Isabelle and she told him she had to go potty. He asked her if she could hold it until they got home. While he was there, he bought her a new cup (in purple, ‘cuz that’s her grandma’s favorite color, you know) and a gallon of chocolate milk. When they got out to the car, she asked him to give her some chocolate milk right there instead of waiting until they got home. He told her, “No. Remember you have to go potty and you won’t be able to hold it if you drink some milk.”

She said, “Oh, Papa, my butt gave up.”

He said, “What?! No! You didn’t have an accident did you?”

“No, I just held it so long that my butt gave up and I don’t have to go anymore.”

Sam and Belle have a mostly-love-but-sometimes-dislike sort of relationship. Most of the time they are uncle and niece, but sometimes they slip into brother and sister. Sam was only 8 when Isabelle was born and she lived with us until she was 3. It is always clear, though, that they love each other very much. When Isabelle is scared, she wants Sam. When she has the “hip hops” she wants Sam to scare them away. She likes the way he gets her chocolate milk for her.

She often tells me, “You know, I call him Samboy because I love him,” as if that makes perfect sense. Still it’s cute.

The other day when I took my Mom to get some teeth pulled, we picked up Isabelle from her mommy on the way home. At first, Isabelle kept her mouth shut super tight as if her teeth would come out, too, if she opened her mouth in front of my Mom. That only lasted a few minutes and then she talked our ears off. She didn’t stop all afternoon and evening. Finally, about 9 o’clock, she said that she was tired and wanted to go to bed. I must of said something like “Oh, you’re tired, Belley Bean?” She answered, “Yeah, all this talking makes my mouth tired.” Yeah, it makes my ears tired, too. :)

A few minutes later, Jason was helping her get her jammies on and she wanted him to hold her while he did it. “I’m so tired, Papa, I can’t stand up anymore.”

A few minutes later she was asleep on her makeshift bed on the floor. From yakkity-yakking to sleeping in less than 10 minutes.

*I haven’t seen her since Monday. I am going through withdrawal.*
