Happy Grumpy Sleepy, That’s Me!

If a man had as many ideas during the day as he does when he has insomnia, he’d make a fortune. ~Griff Niblack

I love sleeping. I mean, I LOVE it. But! I like to stay up late and do stuff. Write, surf, play games, and read are all things I like to do at night when everyone else is sleeping. I feel more creative and productive at those times of night. Maybe it is because I am enveloped in the peacefulness of a sleeping household and I can do those things uninterrupted or maybe that’s just when my creative juices start flowing. I don’t know.

Yesterday was my first day back to work after my week off (I know, week on/week off, what is this girl complaining about?) and I was exhausted by the time I got home from work. Part of it had to do with the kind of day that I had yesterday, but the other part is something that I create for myself. My therapist (there I go sounding all Hollywood again) tells me that if I want to not have insomnia, I need to set up a sleep routine. And stick to it whether I am on a work week or not. If I have to get up at 6:00am on a work day, then I need to get up at 6:00am on my days off, too. Phooey! That’s what I say! I like to stay up late, sleep in in the morning and take a nap mid afternoon.

And so…I’m tired. Maybe I’m slightly sleep deprived. I work hard when I am at work (it’s school physical season, with school starting in a few weeks) and it is exhausting in it’s own rite. Will I ever learn to listen to those who tell me to keep a schedule and get rest and behave myself? Or will I continue to be a brat who likes to do what she wants, whenever she wants no matter what the experts say? Yeah, you can probably bet on the brat.

I swear, I would get a night job, if I could. I love night time. I love sleep too, but it seems so nice to have a nap.

    I don’t nap anymore.

Ah yes sugar. I call her Little Miss Insomnia cause she’s a bitch especially when accompanied by writer’s block LOL

Lynda–I love a good nap. I mean I really love it.

  6. Shelli says:

Turnbaby–My Miss Insomnia is never accompanied by writer’s block. In fact, that’s when I write the best–when I am having a sleepless night.

  7. Barbara says:

A regular routine keeps migraines away. Just listen to me, the kettle calling the pot black.

  8. shortie says:

I am the same way. I love being up ALONE and then I’m exhausted. I don’t know any way around it. It’s the only time everyone is content and leaving me alone. LOLOL

  9. Study Tips says:

Yeah I’m a bit of a night owl, if it were not for work I think I would tend to say up late and get up late!! Not sure if this is the healthiest way to sleep / work… but I really struggle in the mornings!!
