Snow People, I Mean Snow!

Several of you commented that you saw snow in the picture. You were right. There is snow in the picture. It is what caused the accident. Well that and the stupid lady who obviously doesn’t know how to drive in snow. I digress. The snow happened on New Year’s Eve. That was more than 12 days ago now. Since then, we have had temperatures in the 40s. Temps that warm are not very good for keeping snow around. Especially when snowfall being referred to was of the under 5 inches variety. Five inches of snow in Minnesota in the winter is like a Londoner saying, “we got one drop of rain today.” It isn’t even news worthy. Well, maybe a little. But only because the last several winters have had huge snow droughts. The problem with not having much snow in Minnesota in the winter is that it, believe it or not, is very hard on the plants. Some of them rely on snow to insulate them from the very cold temperatures that we typically get in January and February. Some of them rely on the moisture in the spring when the snow melts. The problem we have been having this year is that some of the plants have been tricked by the warm weather and have started budding already. The people who know about these things have been saying that this unusually warm, dry winter may be lethal to our plants and trees. Snow. I want and need more snow.

In other news…

Jason and I had a wonderful day together yesterday. We dropped Belle off at her new ‘partment with her mommy. She was so excited to show us everything. She likes her new living arrangements. After we dropped her off, we pretended we didn’t have children to worry about. We went shopping and to lunch and just enjoyed each other’s company. I got lots of stuff. I got a new dress coat, a pair of jeans, two shirts, 4 bras (what you thought that I, as a woman, didn’t wear them?), a lab coat, a name tag for my stethoscope, pajamas, a brush, a comb, some floss for cross stitching and a very nice Mexican lunch with my husband. The dress coat and the bras were exchanges. The rest was because I needed them.

What did Jason get, you ask? He got to spend the day with me. :) (Fab, if you say it, I will not talk to you at least until…hmmm…the next time we talk.)

  2. Mr. Fabulous says:

When does Jason get spoiled? I think it is high time you treated him to his own special day! Attention must be paid!

  3. Charlotte says:

Well.. here in NJ if we 5 inches of snow that major news. Places close down and the day before it snows the grocery stores are so packed you can’t even turn around. That happens if they even mention the word snow in the weather forcast. People freak out thinking they are gonna be buried in snow for weeks on end. lol

  4. javajabber says:

Am so glad you got your truck back … she did have insurance, right?

Spending time with Jason … sounds like he had a good time! After all, if you’re happy, then he’s happy, right?

Still, not a single snowflake has fallen here in Podunk, PA. A lot of rain … but no snow. My tulips have come up because it’s been so warm. And the irises also. Temps next week are supposed to be “normal,” whatever that means anymore.

  5. Catch says:

I also miss the snow…..dammit, we are supposed to have it so why isnt it here? Personally I think sending all that space craft up has messed up our weather!!! Its either that or the Russians. lol…nice shopping day!!!!

  6. DutchBitch says:

We haven’t had any snow this winter. I miss it but I don’t miss the idiots who don’t know how to drive in it. The best part is, it could be a dusting and people freak out!

  11. Shelli says:

Blue–I hate bra shopping! But, when I bra shop with Jason it is less painful. He is the best at picking out bras for me. No joke.

Fab–Oh, he gets his. You can be sure of that.

Charlotte–Really? In NJ? I thought they get a lot of snow.

Java–Yes, there was insurance. Your poor flowers. That can’t be good in the long run.

    Catch–
Maybe. What other theories can we come up with?

    Dutchy–Awww, thank you!

    Blue–Ow, Blue. I’m wounded!:)

Lynda–I think it was good for him, too. ;)
    Pup–
Pup!! Glad to see you around. I hope you start blogging again soon. I miss you.

ANO–I don’t much care for the idiots in Minnesota who forget what it is like to drive in the snow. Especially those who slam on their brakes when it just looks like it is going to snow.

  12. Charlotte says:

Some years we get tons of snow.. other years.. pfft.. nothing. I just want to see at least one good snow this year. It’s 60 with rain on the way today :( The past couple days it was in the 30′s.. This weather is so messed up!

  13. bluepaintred says:

yea but but but but see the thing is, i have a six foot high fence in my back yard. I CANT SEE IT. when we look out the back of the house there is no deviding line between ours and the ours AND there is a crew of ten or fifteen guys out trying to find the bunny hutch that got burried in t he snow. they think the bunnies will be fine, they were in teh winter hutch which was insulated and heated but there is no air exchange so they have to find them before the CO2 does. oh and to feed them and stuff.

sigh the bunnies are always the first victims of winter

  14. Tug says:

Sounds like a wonderful day, even though I hate shopping!!

I woke up to more snow…and it’s still coming down. Take some – seriously!!

  15. Bra shopping with men is always good. You get to buy what they like to see and what you like to feel good in. A win-win situation! :P

Now, I want snow, too. Not just for the poor plants that are going crazy, but also simply for me.
