First some pictures of Emily and friends. A homecoming shot with some of her friends. She calls it Peanut butter, Jelly and Bread. I don’t know. It’s one of those crazy teenagery things.

Next is Kase on the left, Emily on the right and Sami in the middle.

The last one is just of my daughter, but I think it is an amazing example of her photographic artistic vision and talent. This is a photo she took of herself and then added her own artistic touch to it. I think she is talented anyway.

Tricia continues to amaze me this week. The more I stalk her, the more I realize how really special and intelligent and talented she is. On her website called Tricia’s Chinese Water Dragon, Reptile and Amphibian Care Page, it says that she has had an article that she wrote published in Reptile USA Magazine. She is also a nurse who has been on medical leave because of an illness and instead of being filled with self pity (which I would do) she continually helps people. She runs forums and message boards and keeps up the aforementioned site which helps people who need to know how to take care of their Reptiles. She also did something this past summer that I think is totally amazing. She participated in the Blogathon, which was a charity event that many bloggers took part in on July 29. For 24 hours, they posted a blog entry every thirty minutes. The charity that she was sponsoring was the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. This is one that I have a vested interest in as one of my husband’s relatives has Crohn’s disease.
If you look at either of her reptile related pages, you will be awestruck at the amount of information that she has collected there. The two pages are Reptile Logic and Tricia’s Waterdragon, Reptile and Amphibian Care Page.

Emily, will probably read this as well, but that last pic is awesome.
Keep it up young lady, you are doing so well for one that is still so young and learning.
Hope that doesn’t sound patronising, it is meant to be praise
The pictures of Emily and her friends are great. I love the one she created! It’s amazing! Yes she is talented.
As for me … I didn’t do the blogathon.
I was going to, but I ended up being really sick that weekend and I just couldn’t put myself through being up for 24 hours straight when I felt that bad. I don’t think I ever changed the post saying that I was going to do the blogathon. Sorry! I do hope to do it next year if I can.
I’m not sure I can handle all this praise!
Those are great pictures. The one of just her is amazing. And it’s a self, she took it. Damn, she’s good.
I am TOTALLY impressed by her talent!
Hey, my Dad built a darkroom when I was 12, I practically lived there. Carried a camera with me all through school, knew some amazing photographers IRL. Then when I was think about studies post high-school, and wanted to keep working on photography AND computers, my Dad said he wanted me to go to the engineering school that had accepted me, instead. That he’d cut off all financial support if I chose photography as anything other than a hobby.
MAN! Imagine where I’d be NOW if I had stuck with my photo and computer skills! I didn’t have the guts to go out on my own. And it makes me sad thinking about it, because a few months after this exchange my Dad passed away.
I finished two years of electrical engineering school in fifteen months, then dropped out. That was 16 years ago. I eventually finished a degree in biology and chem, after a total of four schools in five years.
I always wished I’d stuck with photography and am finally back there now.
My point? Your daughter DOES have talent. I’d be excited to see what she continues to do with it.
Super cool photo, that last one of your daughter. She really IS talented, it’s not only you that thinks so
About Tricia: well, it doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m not at all interested in repriles so I’ve never visited that one, but I do have visited her Garden site and that’s quite impressive. She really is generously sharing all her knowledge!
that photo Emily created is awesome… very professional like. That would make a good CD music cover or something. You should pitch it to a record company and make lot of money
I don’t normally want to see train tracks when I’m off work but seriously Shelli, that girl has talent. Awesome shot!
Excellent picture, Emily! I love it. I want to see more.
Wow! That last picture is amazing!
I love the last picture…I cant believe she did that herself. She seems pretty talented to me!
To coin a well worn phrase – Fabulous !
Love, love, love the last photo! She did an awesome job!
Wow – so does Emily want to get into photography as a possible career? She should check into it…& start a photog blog for all of us to enjoy!
She is EXTREMELY talented! I’m impressed!
Emily, I gotta say, that last photo is spectacular. You have got it going on, girl! Finally, someone in the family has talent!
Shelli, gosh, why don’t you and Tricia run away together and get married in a civil ceremony already?
Emily is beautiful as are her friends. I love the last picture, it is so cool!!!! Its very different and interesting.
BlogMad hit, Albino Girl!
I love Emily’s pictures. The last one reminds me of colorized black and whites. I love those.
Hey Shelli–
It looks like your girls are about the same age as my middle one– she’s 14– it’s fun… but some days I can’t wait until she’s driving!
We’ll have to get together for a playoffs party!
Ok– so how does it work that your Roomie, is actually my Landlord for the week?
TRICIA… are you trying to get out of our date for take out and chai tea in the garden??
Your daughter took that one of HERSELF? That’s an amazing shot. The depth she made sure to have, the colorization she added…wow…she’s a real talent!

I commented on the railroad track pic at Flickr. It’s excellent. It would make a great country album cover. Perhaps with a title like “The Other Side of the Tracks,” or something like that. Good work by Emily.
