Someone once told me that people who are born in the summer time usually love summer and everything about it. They said that the opposite was true, too, that those born in the winter loved it and everything about it. Well, if this is true, I must be the exception to the rule. I am not a pleasant person when I am hot and sweaty. I don’t much like when it is humid and sticky. I tend to feel sick and weak if I am outside too long when the temperature gets above 85. I burn really easily. I am not kidding when I tell you that I can burn in 5 minutes. I wear 60 SPF if I am going to be outside for any extended period of time and sometimes even at that, I will burn.
I prefer winter. You can stay inside and snuggle. You only have to go outside when it is absolutely necessary. I have always said that you can always put on more clothes, but you can only take so much off. That is, if you don’t want to get arrested. I have lots of blankets, too. I can put on all of my clothes and cover up with all my blankets if I need to and life is good.
I guess it all goes back to the fact that I was a princess in another life. Stop laughing. I was. I must have been. Otherwise, why would I be so delicate and wilty (it’s my word) in the heat? Truly I must have had several servants who stood near me, misting me and fanning me on the hottest of days. Or I stayed inside the castle in the darkest coolest part and had the same servants bringing me food and water so that I wouldn’t have to exert myself in the heat. Why can’t life be so simple now? I want servants. I want someone who will fan me and spritz me with water if I get to warm. I don’t want to be sweaty.
Don’t get me wrong. I like all the colors of summer. I like the flowers and the grass and the blue skies and the sun (as long as it isn’t burning me). I like the smells, too. I like that I can kick the kids out of the house to have a little peace and quiet.
But winter, winter has it’s own charm. There is nothing quite like a fresh blanket of snow on your lawn. Sometimes when the sun shines just right, it looks as if God has thrown a handful of diamonds across the land. If it is a little foggy and then the air turns crisp, sometimes there will be crystals everywhere–on the trees, the fence, the mailbox. It is so beautiful, it takes my breath away sometimes. And no, it isn’t the cold that does that. You southerners are probably sitting there shaking your heads and saying, “No thank you!” That’s okay. I understand. I feel the same way about the heat.
While you are here, can you go over to my sidebar and click on the button that says “Rate me on VARB”? When you get there, can you give me a 10? That is if you like me. You do like me, don’t you? :?

A princess in another life? I thought you were a princess in this one!
My delicate flower of a sister…
I sure hope I was one of your ladies in waiting and the misting sometimes went in my direction! LOL I love both seasons but do find the heat to be too much sometimes. Much prefer the cold! Try to stay cool today if you can. I am off to vote for you! Happy Monday!
You may have something there, BUT with climate change even summer can seem like winter, as it happens here sometimes, and the last winter here lasted for six months, and the year before summer was hotter than 500 years ago. Its climate change now babe!
What is this winter you speak of?
See…Now I was born in the spring, but I like the fall best. The humidity is gone, and the air is cooling off. I like to wear a t-shirt undernear of my flannel shirt, or a turtleneeck and blue jeans. There is something great about the summer heat, but i also enjoy the cold nip on my cheeks in winter.
BTW….I clicked on the VARB thing to vote for you, but nothing happened. The window blinked and I was right back here!
I used to love winter but as I get older I dont like the cold…but I do love it when it snows and everything is so beautiful…I like to sit and drink a cup of hot chocolate and look out the window. And when we get a really big snow storm I am all excited…I always put on a big pot of chili or soup and the kids come and eat…its kinda neat!
I never used to like the heat but it doesnt bother me as much as it used to. I love a sunshiney day..
I rated your blog…..yes my dear…a 10.
Oh wait…I see it….The dark blue against the purple was just hard to see!
Oh and one more thing Shelli,
Drink copious amounts of water. Eat regularly and healthily. Remember how you got to where you were by doing all those things.
I must have been a princess too. I figure I like winter so much because it is winter in the southern hemisphere when I was born. Even though I have never been to the southern hemisphere.
I’m just like you, so I know what you mean. Think of it this way, maybe you born on the wrong emisphere of the earth. That way, it was really winter when you were born, so the season was right, it was just the place that was wrong!
Hugs!
Oops, I meant hemisphere. The H simply decided not to show up! lol
HUGS!!!
I have said the same exact thing about only being able to take off so much…
And I am normally a cold person..but I cannot stand being hot when I do get hot. I would way rather put a sweater on then have to “glow” (thats my prissy term for sweat)
well I am a June baby and while I enjoy the blue skies and enjoy swimming in a pool when the opportunity arrises overall I hate the summer
let me repeat I HATE IT
I love spring summer and fall
but i hate the heat

BlogMad hit! Love ya, sis!
It would be fine with me if the temperatures remained in the 50′s and 60′s forever. I’m not sure if that coincides with when I was born, but that’s when the weather is most comfortable, in my opinion.
