Is it just me, or are other people my age having trouble staying focused on one thing? Did my Mom forget to tell me when you get older that, even if you didn’t have it before, you suddenly develop Attention Deficit Disorder? Because that wasn’t an affliction that I had to deal with in the past, but all of a sudden, I find myself flitting from one topic to the next and not remembering how I got to where I ended up or where I was going with the story in the first place. You still with me? I will wait while you go back and re-read that last sentence. That is something that I have trouble with, too. Sometimes I can read a whole paragraph or a whole page even, and I cannot remember a single word that I have read. What the fvck!? (Why isn’t there a cents sign on keyboards anymore? ;))
Anyway, I will find myself looking for something on the internet and I will get an email or something and I go off to check the email and something in the email reminds me that I have to find some piece of information for someone because I told them I would email them with it and then I start that email and while I am looking for the link I told them I would get them, I remember that I had to make a birthday list for my mother-in-law and while I am making the birthday list for my mother-in-law, I remember that it is my brother’s birthday and so I decide to call him on the phone to tell him happy birthday, but I have to find his number first and…Well, you get the idea. It is sort of like the If You Give A Mouse A Cookie book.
Where was I going with all this? Oh yeah. I am getting old. And forgetful.

OK. That’s it. We were separated at birth. Go read my blog post, sistah…
I am not a mouse, but I like cookies.
That reminds me sis, don’t you owe me a couple of links you were going to send?
BlogMad hit. Where am I?
I call it getting distracted by something shiny. It doesn’t make me feel as old.
Yeah, happens all the time. Next time I get the email on it, I will forward it.
I have found that peri-menopause has done in my mind. It’s like swiss cheese these days.
Who are you and why have you posted on my blog? Oh. Hey, look…
what?
sorry I got distracted…rude was talking about trimming his hedge and I thought gee I need to trim the bush and then I thought…
huh?
what?
got any cookies?
Wait until you walk across a room to get something and then forget what you walked across the room for.
You know, I don’t think it’s age, I think it’s the culture we live in nowadays, with constant adbreaks on tv, interrupting our concentration, things everywhere, all designed to interrupt our thought patterns to get us to forget what we were up to, and buy the latest ‘xxxx’ instead.
Somebody asked me recently if I had ADD, which got me thinking about this very thing. And hey, I just came via blogexplosion, and the 30 second click!
Yeah. I have that problem every.single.day. Nice.
Take care! Miss ya…
