13 Things Weighing On Me

I haven’t been doing the regular memes since I gave up hosting Monday Memories because I was taking a little break from all of that, but my friend, Leanne, who is the creator of Thursday Thirteen, likes it when I participate. I am doing this for her today because her dear dog, Chloe, died yesterday and I want to do whatever I can to make her smile. So, smile, Leanne. I love you.

Thirteen Things I need to do or am doing to
get back control over my weight loss

1. Lift weights.

2. I have done this 3 times since Saturday.

3. Cardiovascular exercise.

4. I have done this 3 times since Saturday, as well, for a total of 100 minutes. I don’t remember how many calories or miles that ended up being.

5. Drink more water.

6. I am really bad at this. I am drinking more because I have to drink while I work out, but I still need to up my water intake.

7. Eat more fruits and vegetables.

8. I love them, but I either don’t have them around (the kids eat them up to fast), I don’t feel like cutting them up or I forget they are there and they spoil.

9. Go to the gym regularly.

10. I have been there every day this week, including Saturday and Sunday.

11. Keep a food journal.

12. Eat more regularly.

13. I suck at these last two things. I forget to eat. It’s stupid and you are probably saying, “Forget to eat?! Why isn’t she skinny?” because that is the kind of thing that skinny people say. But it is true. I forget to eat until I am starving/shaking/faint and then I think, “Oh my God! I haven’t eaten anything all day!” and then I stuff anything in my face that I can find and usually it is something of no nutritive value that is simple sugars/carbohydrates so that it gets into my blood fast. You are probably thinking, “She is a smart girl. She knows these things. Why doesn’t she just do it?” I don’t know. I am bad.   1. I forget to eat too & then grab the first thing I can find that doesn’t take any preparation time – usually full of sugars & calories & nothing else!

    The solution is, to be more disciplined, but I haven’t managed it yet:-)

    Good luck – the gym & CV exercise will do an awful lot of the job for you – provided you do drink the water;-) The nearest thing to exercise I get is the 3min stroll to school & back!

    Just print your list out, highlight the things you should be doing and post it where you can’t miss seeing it regularly. Like you I forget to eat and then have a food fest. Very bad of us! I made a list and I try to follow it daily. I am on day 10 and doing good so far. I am with you and support you all the way! Glad to see you doing a meme!

    Umm…okay, once again I will be the sand in the vaseline. Sis, that is really only 7 things, not 13. The other 6 are explanations for the 7. So this is really a Thursday Seven.

    I concur with our lovely Pup. Progress, hon, not perfection.

    The key to the “forgetting to eat” thing. You have to schedule time for it. Get off the computer (yes, you) every 2-3 hours and eat something. An apple and some reduced-fat cheese, some slices of chicken and a carton of yogurt, a protein bar, something. Or, buy the fruits and veggies already sliced and bring a plate with you to the computer and nibble. Just remember to pair a good carb with some protein. And keep a container of water next to the computer.

    OK, I’ll shut up now.

    If I knew the answer to why I don’t do these things, I would not have a weight problem. Also, I think skinny people do more than just miss a meal. I think they move more, or have something physcially that keeps them skinny.

  12. :? Forgetting to eat and having to feast because you are starving is not good for someone who’s on a diet.

    I think it’s all about planning — which I suck at. I too tend to forget that I bought good things to eat and put them in the fridge. What IS that?

    I get so busy more times than I should and forget to eat too! Living in AZ I drink plenty of water. My excuse is it’s too HOT to walk, then my husband tells me to take the baby to the mall and walk the mall! Haha! He forgot to say buy whatever you want!

    Preach it Mad Dog. I am so there. I’m on the 6 day Body Make Over and it is really working. You must eat 6 meals a day which takes a lot of planning. You eat every two to three hours…..talk about brown bagging it…Looks like I bring a grocery bag of food as I have to plan on three meals at work! Ha. The food has no taste but I’ve dropped 9 pounds in the last 5 days. Guess you can’t really complain if the program is working. I’ll say a prayer for you every time I eat!

    I decided I need to lose 10 lbs (yeah yeah,i need to lose 50, but thats not happening). so I’ve been eating MORE for 2 days. ugh. water water water. good luck!!
