Well, apparently I pissed off some people by not actually posting about my blogsurfing pet peeves. (Well, Steph wasn’t pissed, she just wanted to hear about them. Pup, however, called me names. That’s okay, she’s my sister and I love her, so I will let her get away with it.) Anyway, I had already planned on posting them eventually, so here they are today. No one get mad at me, ‘k? These are just my observations and I don’t want to piss any one off.

Angry political blogs. I know. Some people like them and there is a demand for them, I am sure. I don’t mind the occasional political commentary, but I don’t like it shoved down my throat. Quickest way to get me to stop reading your blog is to rant and rave several posts in a row about politics. And it doesn’t matter which party you belong to, either. I am bi-partisan in my dislike of angry political blogs.
Media that starts when the blog is still trying to open. I love music. I love videos. I love them both together. I would like to put music on my site. I won’t until I can find a free media player that doesn’t open by itself. I want my readers to have the option to play it or not. I know that there are still some people out there who use dial up and that it really makes it hard for them to load pages when there is media playing. Also, I use Firefox and almost always have multiple tabs open while I am surfing. If I have opened your page and then, while waiting for it to load, have gone to another tab, sometimes I have to search and find out which page is playing some music/video so I can either shut it off or close the page. As it is, I think that some blogs open slowly because of photos and other things that people have on their blogs. It sometimes causes system hangs and freezes. I try to minimize that if I can.
Some blogs have Pop ups! I know. That drives me crazy. I don’t want a Pop up ad when I come to your blog. I don’t EVER want a Pop up ad. ‘Nuff said.
Spam blogs. This one only seems to happen when surfing BlogMad, but it irritates me anyway. Blogs that only have advertisement. Well, for that matter, blogs that have a lot of obtrusive advertising. I did the ad thing for awhile, too. I didn’t make one single penny. I don’t know how the rest of you have faired, but I would be willing to bet that you aren’t buying a mansion with a pool in a gated community with the money made on the ads from your blog. Just a guess.
Spam commenters. I KNOW I am not alone in this. They suck. I hate them.
Trolls. In the urban dictionary they are defined as this:One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. I would add blogs to the places where they post their poisonous comments. I hate that people think that because they aren’t visible they can say whatever hurtful things they want on someone else’s blog. It isn’t nice. I have a blog friend, Anne, who is sick. She just minds her own business and posts on her blog as a way to deal with her illness. Yesterday, she posted about an email that she got from another blogger claiming that she was a Christian and telling her she was amoral and asking Anne not to comment on her blog anymore because she didn’t want her readers to come to Anne’s site and be influenced by her lifestyle. I would like it if y’all (I never lived in the south) would go and give Anne some love. That would sure counteract the poison that the Christian spewed and also show that not all Christians are hateful. (There I gave her many links to show my support. I love you, Anne!) Besides, my Mom always said, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all.” (Why am I whining? hmmm?) And in the words of Rodney King, “Can we get along here? Can we all get along?”
Okay, I think that I have given you enough peeves for this time. Stay tuned though, I have more. I won’t post them for awhile. Maybe in a few weeks.

radio.blog doesn’t open by itself. I use it to stream german music for language practice. It was the best option for me, easy set up, low band width use. You can check it out in-use here
Thanks for the troll definition. I wonder if there was a word for that behavior
I don’t remember Mom saying that. I mostly remember her yelling at you to stop using up all the whipped cream.
I will go over and see Annie…
Well you summed it up very nicely for me! I so agree on the music media thing. I will stop loading a page and not go back if it is impossible to get to! I don’t understand someone bein go mean to Anne it seems unfair if she was leaving nice comments then what was their beef. Just because she comments on their page does not mean they indorse her page! Some people are just funny in their views of things. Maybe if they got to know her they wouldn’t judge so fast. But some Christians are like that they judge just a wee bit too fast!
I am guilty of putting too many blinkies on my page. Everynow and then when I am in the mood for making them I put them up and get comments about peoples eyes hurting. So I have tried to not do so many.
Nice posting today! Hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday!
I certainly agree with #1. Those I tend to flag!!!
#1 and #2 are my biggest dislikes when it comes to surfing the Internet. I’m not a fan of having things foisted onto me.
Thank you Shelli…that was really sweet of you..
Hi thanks for stopping by my site!
I have the same exact pet peeves in blogland and it’s just so annoying! I especially hate the political blogs. I have my own opinions about politics and I don’t need yours, thank you.
I’ll be stopping by again!
Preach it Mad Dog….I’ll turn the pages!
I fell asleep when I read political. But, I finally woke up again and I agree with all your points. Especially the music thing.
Off to visit Annie.
Whewww, my site wasn’t on this post
Nevermind Pup, she gets like that. I’m thinking those uh…tassle thingies get too tight sometimes
lol
well fer one you could quit calling the person who sent Anne the email “christian”….cause to be a christian is to christ-like…it’s how the term came along.
And Christ comforted the down trodden, and the sick, and the needy and homeless and stopped the funeral processions and raised the dead. And he went home to eat with the politicians that no one liked and comforted them too, in their bad ways, in their sin, in their greediness…he comforted them too.
Sermon over. The Pup.
Totally with you on all of that, especially the politic/religious thing. I have DEFINITE views on both, but would never share. That’s not my thing, and I don’t appreciate it either. You go, girl.
Amen, sistah, amen. I want more…
P.S. – I visited Annie. I like her already!
…nothing I hate more than people who are so focused on their religion that they feel it necessary to give the whole group of ‘em a bad name by overstepping their boundaries and preaching at people about their shortcomings. Can’t get more hypocritical than that. Lovely example they’re setting.
I’ll also add, “If you can’t be polite, well-mannered and show people common courtesy when asking them to refrain from participating in your blog WITHOUT going in to the details as to “why”, then don’t comment at all.”
How’s that?
Neh, you didn’t piss me off…you just peaked my curiosity. And, now that I’ve read your list and know that I’m not an “offender” of any of your claims (at least I don’t think I am!), I can say I know why I relate to your writing. I agree completely!
On the political thing, I guess people are entitled to their viewpoints. But, there’s an arrogance to it really. Like they think their views are so astounding and important that the world wants to read about it. It is kind of like celebrities when they jump on the political bandwagon. I have respect for those stars who choose to DO something to contribute–say drive an alternatively-fueled car or work in a third-world country. But, geez, don’t just rant and rave about the current leadership from atop your million dollar mansion just because you think your view is ALL THAT. Please…
Hmmmmmmmmm how annoying does my blog rate???
I agree with you on all aspects. I use to try to post on a political blog, I found some of his stuff laughable & tried to post my thoughts; only to get slaughtered! I had to stop & block him. He tried to call me out a few times but I just let it go & life is so much nicer now. LOL!
Good list & I went to go give Anne a hug.
I had one of those spam bloggers and they left some AWFUL language on my blog. I hate them too.
I’m not into the political blogs either. It’s all the same stuff over and over again, and it doens’t matter which side they are on they say basically the same thing.
Do you get spam at my blog? I hope not. I’ll have to switch blogs if that is happening!
I have music occasionally on mine. For special things. It drags down the site, and makes it take longer to load. So I can’t stand having it up for more than a day.
I’ll send you an email when I get home from work on how to load it on your site if you want. Where to get the MP3′s.
I find music that plays automatically when you enter a blog to be an invasion and beyond rudeness. It’s especially irritating when i’m listening to music on my computer. Any blog that has music playing automatically I block immediately, even if the blogger only intended it to be up for a day or two.
The troll’s name wasn’t Dani or something like that, was it? I seem to remember someone like that pulling those kinds of stunts on other people. Don’t people like that have anything better to do? Trolls just suck.
I think I managed to stay away from all of your pet peeves on my blog! I guess that is how I like it too! ~ jb///
These are good – add a few more and you have yourself a Thursday Thirteen submission
Blogmat hit, sis. Va-va-va-voom!
I pretty much hate all blogs, except mine, those on my blogrolls and people who leave comments when surfing to mine. Most blogs remind me of the lunchroom in 8th grade. Thanks for stopping by-and I left your friend a nice comment
Geez. Tough blogger? Narrow minded people just suck. I’ll Pop over this week for sure. So lame.
Yeah. I completely agree with you on all of those!
I went over to Anne’s and she seems like a sweetheart.
That email was complete crap.
Whoa, you did not just go to the urban dictionary. Oh no, you did. I think troll would appropriate for Merriam-Webster though. It is a modern word that seems very useful on the Internet.
You nailed those pretty well. Angry political blogs have certainly become annoying. Most of them aren’t even political. It’s just an opportunity to rant at the various groups of people they dislike under the guise of some popular ideology. A lot of it is just regurgitated cable news. And I’ve actually turned my sound off thanks to media heavy pages that blow out of the speakers without warning.
I had someone hell bent, (sorry, no pun intended here) on bring me to Christ. Every day I was waking up to find Christian comments. I’d delete them because although I am a Christian, that is not what my blog is about. This went on for a week or so and then stopped. Am I going to hell?
